SUMMARY:

All measuring devices have some degree of imprecision and uncertainty. Generally it is the imprecision in measuring devices. Uncertainty measurement means that in the given range of possible values within which the true value of the measurement lies. Random uncertainty is found using. When the uncertainty is evaluated and reported in a specified way it indicates the level of confidence that the value actually lies within the range defined by the uncertainty interval. example of measurement of uncertainty.

Please follow the below step to create the sample manifest file:

1. Add uncertainty to test result parameter

2. Uncertainty in test and report

1. Add uncertainty to test result parameter

  • You need to create a parameter by going to LSM -> ADMIN -> PREFERENCES -> PARAMETERS  at the test level.
*Please refer to our Knowledge Base on how to create a test in LSM.
  • For uncertainty to be calculated you need to have other parameters (values) for which the uncertainty will be calculated.
  • These values can be
    • Numeric: Single values/numbers
    • Calculation: It can combination of different parameters (that are also numeric) whose values are calculated by a formula.
  • Uncertainty is the calculation of the final result values like example below.
The result is the value that comes from 2 other parameters.
Uncertainty will be calculated on the final result values.
  • When you add the parameter during the test configuration in LSM -> ADMIN -> PREFERENCES -> TESTS -> EDIT, you will see the option to add the values for uncertainty. Follow the below steps to add the parameter & uncertainty values.
  • Your lab needs to calculate the uncertainty of a calibration test of an instrument depending upon your requirement.
  • You can add several values for uncertainty of test that is configured for example to do test for the calibration of the instrument.
*Please refer to our Knowledge Base on how to create a test in LSM.
  • Save the parameter and create a job with the test.
*Please refer to our Knowledge Base on how to do the start the job and execute it.
  • When you execute the test.
  • LSM calculates uncertainty by the below formula.

2. Uncertainty in test and report

  • You execute the test as a job in LSM and enter the values for the test result parameters. Eg. Calibration of an instrument.
  • As for the example we had 3 uncertainty values 9, 10 or 20, you will see a dropdown to choose which one you need to apply.
  • As you enter the values the uncertainty value will be automatically calculated from the selected percentage value.
  • You can see the result using the hashtag sign with the parameter name. For eg. in the above example, when you create the template you can use ##Result##.
*Please refer to our Knowledge Base on how to do use dynamic tags for report template

  • When you finish the test and create a report, you will see the uncertainty value automatically in the report.
*Please refer to our Knowledge Base on how to do the start the job and execute it.
*Please refer to our Knowledge Base on how to do create a report.
