How to solve errors while importing data

You can encounter some errors while uploading them. These errors & their solutions are described below.


File with no owner column: If you forgot the owner column or forgot to select one owner in the select list under Advanced options, you will get this error message. 

2. Imported record doesn’t exist in LabCollector user’s list: If you use an owner who is not in the lab member list or make a mistake, you will get this error message.

3. Import file with no name column: If you forgot the name column or chose the wrong field separator, you will get this error message.

4. Duplicate unique codes/name records discarded: If your module is set up as Block duplicates under Admin–>Other–>Record Options and you import the same unique code twice, you will get this message
It will be a similar error if you import the name that already exists in the LabCollector database.

5. Field with values don’t match existing LabCollector values detected: Checkbox and the select list can be imported. The value needs to match the exact values in LabCollector. If the value used in the import file is wrong, you will get this message. If you choose to import, the wrong value will not be imported.

6. Field with values don’t match existing LabCollector values detected (Multiple select list or checkbox field types) : The value needs to match the exact values in LabCollector and be separated by | (CTRL+ALT+6) or a colon (:). Don’t introduce space before and after the separator. If the value used in the import file is wrong, you will get the message below. If you choose to import, the wrong value will not be imported.

7. “Link to” (a record in a module) and autocomplete fields can be imported. Error can occur if the below steps are not followed.
-For “Link to” field, the value in your file needs to match the exact name of the record in LabCollector and be separated by | (CTRL+ALT+6) or a colon (:). Don’t introduce space before and after the separator. If a value used in the import file is wrong, the wrong value will not be imported.
Autocomplete field is a text field, if the name of the record exists, a link is created; if not, the text is available.
