How to add a reagents/solutions recipe in ELN?

SUMMARY:

ELN now allows you to add recipe to the page inside a book. This can be very helpful, when you want to create solutions using LabCollector’s ELN. LabCollector allows you to now attach the entire recipe procedure with the option to destock volumes directly from the reagent stocks.

Please follow the below procedure to create recipes inside ELN:

1. Create a recipe using reagents 

2. Add recipe in ELN page/subpage

3. Add recipe in ELN page/subpage template

1. Create a recipe using reagents 

  • In order to create inside LabCollector you need to create reagents and their stock/lot solutions in the Reagents and supplies module.
  • Once you have create the reagents, go to LABCOLLECTOR ->ADMIN -> DATA -> MANAGE RECIPES
    *Please refer to the Knowledge Base on how to create & execute recipes in LabCollector.
  • The 2 important things to add in a before a recipe is the category and the name of the recipe. For example, buffer category can have multiple type of buffer solutions.

2. Add recipe in ELN page/subpage

  • Once you have added recipe in LabCollector as shown in section 1 reference knowledge Base, you need to now go to ELN to add the recipe there.
  • Tips/Hints
    Recipes can be added to page, subpage and even page templates.
  • 1. Go to the book you wan to add recipe in, and open the relevant page. (see below image)
  • 2. Click on the “design” option of the page to add a recipe block.
  • 3. Drag and drop the recipe block if it is not already on your page data.
  • 4. Click on “Save and refresh”

 

 

 

  • You will now be able to see the recipe block on your page.
  • 1. To add recipe, you need to click on edit button (see below image)
  • 2. You need to add category of the recipe and then select the recipe from the category.
  • 3. Select the category of the recipe.
  • 4. Select the recipe you require.
  • 5. Once you select “choose” you will be able to see the recipe components on your page.
  • 6. If you have selected a wrong recipe then, you can you can click on remove to clear the same.
  • 7. If you want to close the selection tabs after you have selected the recipe, then you can click on “close”. This will allow you execute your recipe when you want. For example, if you are going to do create a recipe on a later day, then you can execute it at that time.

 

 

 

  • When you execute the recipe, you will see the options in depending on what you selected when the recipe was created.
    You can go to LABCOLLECTOR ->ADMIN -> DATA -> MANAGE RECIPES


 

  • You can execute the recipe as required. (see below image)
  • 1. If you have allowed partial recipe then you can choose what components you would use to create the recipe.
    *However, you will see a pop-up as soon as yo click “execute” that asks you to reconfirm if you want to execute partial recipe. (5)
  • 2. If you have done the settings while managing recipe to add the recipe as a lot on existing product, then you will see the tabs under “Final product” to add the lot number/barcode, expiration date, and quantity.
  • 3. You can also write your final observations or notes if any.
  • 4. Once you are done, you can click on “Execute”.

 

  • Once the recipe is executed you will see the recipe like below on ELN page. (see below image)

 

  • You can pdf that allows you to view the recipe instructions & method ad observations or notes if you have written any. For example like below.

 

 

3. Add recipe in ELN page/subpage template

  • Once you have create the reagents, go to ELN ->ADMIN -> TEMPLATE -> VIEW & EDIT TEMPLATE
    *Only certain level user permissions (superadmin, admin, etc), who have bee given access to templates, can have visibility to page templates. 
  • Here you select the template of a page where you want to add the recipe.

 

  • Once done you can save the template.
  • When ever the template is used the recipe will be added automatically.
