The rich text editor of ELN provides you with various options. 

Each of them is described below.

  The ELN uses HTML editing, so by viewing the page’s HTML or source code, you can see how elements on the page are handled as well as paths to the page’s images or other features.

‘Insert code snippet’ is an option that provides language. (“Code Snippet” is a term used to describe a small portion of re-usable source code, machine code, or text. They allow a programmer to avoid typing repetitive code during the course of routine programming).

To save the content you have written.

To do a preview of how your content looks like. By clicking on this another page will open showing the content you have written.

To print the content.

To add a template to your page content. Check our KB on how to create a template.

it will insert a plate outline template for you. You will see various plate options when you click on the drop-down arrow. 

when you choose one of them (for example 6-well plate), this is how you will see the plate in which you can write details as required.

This allows you to add a link to add any record inside LabCollector. (Check our to see how to link records)

This option allows you to create a reference from inside the ELN. Meaning if you have used a recipe or protocol from some other book inside the ELN or collaboration then you can use this option to create a link.

Mind The Graph is a plugin that allows you to create images like professionals. Check our Kb on how to use Mind the Graph.

This is a photo editor that allows you to edit images of your images. You can upload your image here and the editor will give you several options to manipulate the images.  When you click on it you see a pop up to either take an image or upload an image. When you choose the uploaded image option, you will see the below page.

This option allows you to add an image inside the content section. When you upload an image you can right-click on it and go to image properties to edit the image size and position. When you click on image properties you will get this pop-up.

Image info allows you to edit image size (width & height), horizontal or vertical spacing, alignment or the border of the image.
Link: will allow you to add a link to the location of the image. (The URL in the link is the same as in the Image info option seen in the above image)
Upload: If you want to upload the image again or change the image and upload a new one.
Advanced: this allows you to add classes to the image (classes are used for HTML editing)

This is an add-on in LabCollector that allows you to store images. If you want to use an image from inside the photobank you can click on this icon to do so.

This is an option useful to “Add molecules & reactions” useful for creating chemistry molecules and edit them. When you click on this icon the below pop-up will open. you can create basic elements and save them to use them as templates. You can also use memorized records from Chemistry Module inside LabCollector. (Check our Manual pg 48-49 to see how to create chemical structures)

Long string formatter could be used to format sequences for example like FASTA sequences.

This is an information icon explaining in detail some of the options in the same line as this icon.

  It is the “cut” option, the same as Ctrl+V. This option is greyed out and will be active only when you select the text.

It is the “copy” option, the same as Ctrl+C. This option is greyed out and will be active only when you select the text.

It is the “copy” option, the same as Ctrl+C.

It is the “copy as plain text” option, the same as Ctrl+Shift+V. 

It is “paste from word” meaning the text will be in the same format as in the word document.

It is the “Undo” (Ctrl+Z) & “Redo” option (Ctrl+Z).

To make text bold.

To make text italic.

To underline text.

To strikethrough the text.

To make the text as a subscript.

To make the text as superscript.

To remove the format from the text.

  It is the equation editor where you can add & display the equations and functions & colors.

  CKEditor is a WYSIWYG rich text editor which enables writing content directly inside of web pages or online applications. 

To give bullets to the text in the form of numbers or dots.

to increase or decrease the indent.

It is not to put the text in quotations but to set off the selected text from the rest of the text by starting it on a new line and indenting it from the left margin.

To create a div container (HTML) that allows you to add classes to the text.

To arrange the position of the text. Same as Microsoft word.

To change the text direction to either left or right.

Add a link to a text or remove the link from a text.

To link an anchor. Anchor text refers to the clickable words used to link one web page to another.

To create tables. Check our ELN Manual pg 38-40 to see more about creating a table.

If users need to import tables, they can use copy/paste but we don’t recommend it. It’s better to create a new one and fill results manually. Press the table button on the toolbar. The Table Properties dialog window that will open lets you set configuration options that define table size, its display properties, or other advanced properties.

Below is an overview of all Table Properties tab elements:
• Rows – the number of rows in the table (obligatory).
• Columns – the number of columns in the table (obligatory).
• Width – the width of the table in pixels or a percent value. Giving the width as a percent value lets you set the proportion of the editing area that the table will occupy.
• Height – the height of the table in pixels.
• Headers – the drop-down list that formats certain table cells as headers, which applies special formatting to them. You can apply header formatting to First Row, First Column or Both.
• Border size – the thickness of the table border in pixels.
• Alignment – the alignment of the table on the page. The following options are available: Left, Center, Right.
• Cell spacing – the space between individual cells as well as cells and table borders, in pixels.
• Cell padding – the space between the cell border and its contents, in pixels.
• Caption – the label of the table that is displayed on top of it.
• Summary – the summary of the table contents that is available for assistive devices like screen readers.

Note: 1 pixel (px) is approximatively equal to 0.30 millimeter (mm).

To insert a horizontal line below text.

To insert a special symbol.

To insert page break for printing.

To search the text.

To find and replace a word/words in the text.

To select all the text. Same as Ctrl+A.

To enable SCYAT (Spell Check As You Type). It provides you with several options.

to provide you with various styles for your text.

 To change the text format to preformatted styles.

Various fonts for your text.

To change the text size.

To add color to the text.

To highlight the text or add a background color to the text.

To maximize the text editor.

This option will show blocks, that will show the setting of the format of the text from the reformatted style. (highlighted in yellow)
