1. Import rules and tips

  • LabCollector allows you to import multiple data entries at once by going to ADMIN -> DATA -> IMPORT.
  • However, you need to follow some rules in order to import correctly.
    Please read the knowledge Base on how to import data.
  • You can downland the csv template that will give you all the column headers that will contain the name of he custom and default fields for import the data for records.
  • You can either download legend tags or database tags that are explained in he knowledge Base how to import data.

2. Importing comments with line break format

  • If you import the CSV file and want to import comments with single lines, you have to add the tags <p> and </p> before and at the end of each sentence you want to start in a new line.
  • In this way you can divide your text into individual lines. See the example image below.
  • Once you have added the tags <p> and </p> the csv file as described above, you can import the data as described in the knowledgebase on how to import data.

3. Troubleshooting the special characters

  • If the import is not performed correctly tit can lead to various issues.

  • One of the problems that can occur is the special characters like µ that are not automatically updated by the CSV file. Therefore, when you upload the CSV file, the special character may look like this:
  • To correct the above situation, please open the CSV file with Notepad++ and you will see if your file is in UTF8 encoding, as in the following image.
  • If this is the case, you need to change the encoding of your file to UTF-8 as follows.
  • Once the file is in UTF-8 format, you should be able to see it as below:
  • Now you can save the file and when uploading it to LabCollector you need to select the encoding for your file in the advanced settings before proceeding to import the file.
