When starting LSM usage, it is essential to start with customization steps. You need to create your customers, results parameters, assays catalog and more. These items interact with each other in multiple ways, therefore the order of steps for the initial setup is important.
Some portions of the LSM cannot be customized without first setting up others.

Completing this step requires admin or super-admin level permissions.

At this point, we can navigate to the LSM to create the necessary parameters, tests, etc. within the LSM.

1. Protocols

Equipment needs an associated protocol for each test, and these are added within Admin > Preferences > Protocols.
Select Add and complete the form by uploading the file with the protocol. Files may be downloaded from the protocol list.

Afterwards when the protocols files are uploaded you can associate them to the assays . For that, you go to ADMIN > Preferences > Tests. When you create a test, under the section Protocol & Equipment you can search for the protocol that you need by typing. To conclude you click in the plus button. See images bellow.

When you have a job in the LSM with a test that is expected to use a protocol, you will see the section of Protocol & Equipment in the Assigned phase, before you start the job (like the image bellow). At this step you can download the protocol file.

2. Sample types
The lab has to manage sample types according to the lab service activities. Entering a sample type is required when submitting a job that includes samples. You may not submit a job unless at least one sample type has been created.

Navigate to Admin > Preferences > Sample Types. Click Add, fill the form and then click Save.

Sample Types can also be associated to individual tests. This means that when ordering tests you can see the relevant tests for that sample type highlighted at the top of the list. For that you go to ADMIN>Preferences>Tests. When adding or editing a test in the field Sample type you can select the sample type that you want to associate to that test. Don’t forget to click in Add Sample Type button. You can also create on the moment a new sample type not present by clicking in the button Create & Add.
