PRESS RELEASE: AgileBio announces agentic AI expansion into LabCollector

17/06/2026

Paris, France – AgileBio, developer of the LabCollector Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), announces the expansion of AI-powered tools and agents across LabCollector. These new capabilities are designed to help laboratories improve documentation, data organization, reporting, safety workflows, and module configuration directly inside their LIMS environment.

Artificial Intelligence is becoming a powerful assistant in modern laboratories. With the first wave of LabCollector AI Agents now available and more tools on the way, AgileBio is bringing practical AI support into the daily work of researchers, lab managers, technicians, and safety teams.

AI support built into daily laboratory work

LabCollector AI is designed to assist users across multiple modules and add-ons. From writing support and voice transcription to safety detection, storage organization, image processing, and custom module building, the goal is simple: help laboratory teams save time and work with better-structured data.

Instead of working with separate AI tools outside the laboratory system, users can access AI features inside LabCollector, where their samples, experiments, inventory, documents, and workflows are already managed.

“AI should not feel like a separate tool that laboratories have to adopt from scratch. Our goal is to bring useful AI assistance directly into the workflows scientists already use every day” said Pierre Rodrigues, CEO at AgileBio.

What AI can do in LabCollector

With LabCollector’s built-in AI tools, users can:

  • Improve scientific writing: refine experiment notes, reports, descriptions, and documentation.

  • Capture observations by voice: use AI audio transcription to convert spoken notes into structured text.

  • Support chemical safety: detect risks and help populate GHS pictograms from relevant safety information.

  • Create graphs from prompts: use the AI Graph Builder to generate charts from natural language requests.

  • Build reports faster: use the AI Report Builder to create PDF report templates from user instructions.

  • Process images and PDFs: extract structured data from documents, images, and files.

  • Generate smart eLabel content: automatically prepare and update electronic shelf label content based on LabCollector records.

  • Configure modules: ask an agent to review spreadsheets and help create custom LabCollector modules.

These tools are part of a broader AI roadmap for LabCollector, with additional agents planned for experiment co-creation, app building, workflow design, knowledge base assistance, and advanced data search.

A growing ecosystem of AI-powered tools

Several AI-powered tools are already available or being progressively added across the LabCollector ecosystem, including:

  • Text Enhancer: AI-powered rewriting and content improvement.

  • AI Audio Transcription: spoken notes automatically transcribed inside LabCollector.

  • Trinka Grammar: advanced grammar and writing assistance.

  • Custom Field AI: AI-powered data transformations and calculations.

  • Language Convert: automated multi-language conversion.

  • Workflow Design: AI-assisted workflow creation.

  • ELN Tools & Agents: experiment summaries, page summaries, document support, tags, bibliography generation, and literature matching.

  • AI Lab Storage: support for defining and organizing boxes, racks, shelves, and storage structures.

  • AI Recipe Assistant: generation and optimization of lab protocols from natural language.

  • Smart Search & KB Agent: AI-powered search and knowledge base assistance across LabCollector modules.

Upcoming capabilities include AI-assisted module setup, an AI App Builder, an ELN co-scientist, and additional agents to help laboratories design, organize, and improve their digital workflows.

Privacy and flexibility by design

LabCollector AI is designed with privacy, flexibility, and security in mind. Instead of forcing one built-in AI service, LabCollector allows organizations to connect their own AI provider using their own API key.

This approach gives each laboratory more control over which AI models are used and how data is processed. Current supported AI providers include OpenAI and Mistral AI, with more integrations planned.

“Every laboratory has its own requirements for data privacy, compliance, and internal IT rules. By allowing users to connect their own AI provider, LabCollector gives organizations the flexibility they need while making AI easier to adopt” said Pierre Rodrigues, CEO at AgileBio.

Availability

AI tools are available in recent LabCollector versions. To get started, users should update their LabCollector instance to version 6.31 or higher, navigate to the Artificial Intelligence settings, select their AI provider, and add their API key.

AgileBio will continue expanding AI capabilities in LabCollector with new tools, agents, and integrations designed to support laboratory productivity, safety, reporting, and data management.
