How to Update Your Honeywell EDA/PDA Series Devices?

Keeping your Honeywell Android handheld device updated ensures access to the latest features. With the HUpgrader, you can easily install updates from a downloaded file on your mobile device. This knowledge base article walks you through the entire process, from downloading the correct update to completing the installation.

Note
This knowledge base applies to both the EDA51 and EDA52 models.

1. Download the correct version

To begin, you’ll need to download the appropriate update file for your Honeywell Android device. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official Honeywell website: https://hsmftp.honeywell.com/.
  2. Create a free account by entering your information. This will give you access to all available OTA (Over-The-Air) files.
  3. After logging in, use the directory tree to navigate to the correct section for your specific Honeywell device model.
  4. Once you’ve located the appropriate update file, click “Download.” (see screenshots below)

 

After the download completes, you will have the Honeywell Software Download Manager on your computer. You can use this tool to download the specific Android version or OTA file needed for your device.

2. Transfer the Update File to Your Device

Once the OTA file has been downloaded, transfer it to your handheld device:

    1. Connect your Honeywell device to your computer using a USB cable.
    2. Ensure your device is set to allow file transfers:
      • On your device, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification bar.
      • Tap on the USB notification and select “File Transfer.”
    3. Copy the OTA update file to the following folder on your mobile:
      Internal shared storage > Download

 

Note
If you are using a USB connection to transfer the upgrade files to the handheld device, make sure you set the USB connection to allow file transfers.

3. Enable Provisioning Mode on the Device

Before you can install the update, you need to enable Provisioning mode:

    1. On your Honeywell device, swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to access all apps.
    2. Go to Settings > Honeywell Settings > Provisioning mode.
    3. Tap the toggle switch to turn Provisioning mode ON.

4. Install the Update with HUpgrader

Now, you’re ready to install the update using the HUpgrader app:

    1. Open the Honeywell Upgrader app on your device. You can find it by swiping up from the bottom of the Home screen to access all apps.
    2. In the Honeywell Upgrader app, tap Select OTA from storage.

 

3. Browse and select the OTA update file from the location where you saved it (usually in the Internal Storage > Download folder).

4. The device will analyze the file, and the installation process will begin automatically.

5. Once the installation is complete, you will be prompted to reboot the device.

6. Tap OK when prompted, and allow the device to reboot. The update will now be applied to your Honeywell handheld Android device.
