It is sometimes useful to get information near the storage source. 


For example, you may want to have a content list and map of a box that you get in the freezer, and you have no computer nearby and don’t want to go forth and back to get this information. 


If your lab has access to a wireless network, you can use Palm, Pocket PC devices. You can even use PDA or smartphone devices that have a barcode scanner (or camera) and Wi-Fi networking support, providing quick and real-time access to data.


On the PDA device, use an Internet browser and get the page:


http://[IP or network address of server]/pda.php


This page is especially formatted to the screen size of PDA devices. You can do barcode searches and storage manipulations such as removing tubes. 


LabCollector supports use of tablets such as the IPad. You can switch between normal or PDA simplified screens.
