3. Recovery of the old LabCollector into the new computer

4. Opening LabCollector in new computer

1. Backup of LabCollector on the old computer

  • If you want to move your LabCollector to a new computer, you need to first create a backup of LabCollector on your old computer.
  • This will help to generate a copy of your data in case anything goes wrong.
*Please read the knowledgebase of how to do a backup of LabCollector.
  • You need to take into account two things:
    • 1. If you have subscribed for supports & upgrades of LabCollector, then in this case, when you do a backup using the above knowledgebase, you will get a .sql file type.
      – In this scenario, you will have MySQL editor like heidi to import the data.
      – MySQL option will be present on your PC or your server, depending upon where you host LabCollector.
      – heidi sql is a software that is downloadable for free but you have other ones that could be used.
    • 2. If you haven’t subscribed for supports & upgrades of LabCollector, then you will need to perform a full backup, using step 3 in this knowledgebase.

2. Installation of LabCollector on the new computer

3. Recovery of the old LabCollector into the new computer

  • Stop the server from LabCollector server Manager on your old computer.
  • You need to stop the server on the Old computer only if you want to do the backup manually.
Warning
This is a very important step. If you do not stop the servers, the data will be corrupted and not usable. So please be careful to follow this step.
  • If you are doing the backup using LabCollector server manager or the LabCollector instance, then it is not necessary to stop the servers.

  • Go to your computer C drive
  • In the C drive you will see various folders.

  • You need to copy data from 2 folders in OLD computer (in the pendrive/key or external hard disk). Go to
    1. Program Files (x86)\AgileBio\LabCollector\www\lab
    2. Program Files (x86)\AgileBio\LabCollector\mysql\data\lab
Note

Clients without supports and upgrades should copy their data from both folders. Only clients that are subscribed to support and upgrades, can copy their data using only the second folder (Program Files (x86)\AgileBio\LabCollector\mysql\data\lab).

  • All you need to do is copy the contents in folders described above in point 1 and 2 from OLD computer and paste/replace them in NEW computer in the same file path (described in points 1 and 2 above).

4. Opening LabCollector in new computer

  • Now, in the new computer, you can go to server manager, activate the license.
  • To activate, you need to go to the client area and request a new license after database migration.
*Please, read our knowledgebase on how to use client area.
  • TROUBLESHOOTING PHP: In case you encounter “PHP not compatible” then you need to go to the Server Manager -> Settings -> Configure servers -> General options
