How do you refresh your browser cache? (FR/EN)

Some display issues or corrections that don’t appear when they were made, may be due to your browser cache that keeps track of an erroneous image. You need to refresh your cache which depends on your internet browser and your operating system.

Internet Explorer

  • Bypassing cache:

Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.

  • To completely clear the cache:
  1. Click “Tools” (the Gear-shaped button on the top-right section of the browser), point to “Safety” and click “Delete Browsing History…” (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Del).
  2. Select “Temporary Internet Files” at the top, and click “Delete”. (If Wikipedia is in your list of favorites, you may need to turn off the “Preserve Favorites website data” at the top of the dialog box.)
  3. Internet Explorer will now delete the items you have chosen. Once finished, the notification bar appears at the bottom of the screen, stating that the selected browsing history has been deleted.

Firefox and other related browser

  • Bypassing cache:

On Windows and Linux: Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
On Mac OS X: Hold both the ⌘ Cmd and ⇧ Shift keys and then press R.

  • To completely clear the cache:
    – In versions of Firefox that display a single, orange “Firefox” button: click the “Firefox” button and click “Options”. Select the “Advanced” section, and go to the “Network” tab, and click the “Clear Now” button. Then click “OK”.
    – When Firefox displays a menu bar, from the “Edit” or “Tools” menu, choose “Preferences” or “Options”. Select the “Advanced” section, and go to the “Network” tab. Click the button called “Clear Now”. Then click “OK”.

Google Chrome

  • Bypassing cache:

On Windows and Linux: Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
On Mac OS X: Hold both the ⌘ Cmd and ⇧ Shift keys and press the R key

  • To clear the cache:
  1. Go to the “Tools” menu (the three horizontal bars on the upper right of the browser) and click on “History” (Shortcut: Ctrl+H).
  2. Click on “Clear all browsing data…” (Shortcut: Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Del).
  3. Select the types of data you want to clear, include “Empty the cache” option.

Safari

  • Bypassing cache:

Hold down the ⇧ Shift key and click the Reload toolbar button.

  • To completely clear the cache:

From the “Safari” menu, choose “Empty Cache…” or hold down the ⌥ Opt and ⌘ Cmd keys and press E.


Opera

  • Bypassing cache:

Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.

  • To completely clear the cache:

From the “Tools” menu, choose “Preferences”. Expand the “Advanced” options and choose “History”. Click the “Empty now” button.


Certains problèmes d’affichage ou des corrections que vous ne voyez pas apparaitre alors qu’elles ont été effectuées, peuvent être dû au cache de votre navigateur qui garde en mémoire une image erronée.

Internet Explorer

  • Recharger une page et purger le cache :

Effectuer la combinaison de touches Ctrl + F5.

  • Effacer complètement le cache :
  1. Effectuer la combinaison de touches Ctrl + Maj + Suppr.
  2. Cocher toutes les cases.
  3. Cliquer sur le bouton « Supprimer ».

Firefox et autres navigateurs Mozilla

  • Recharger une page et purger le cache :

– Windows et Linux : Effectuer la combinaison de touches Ctrl + F5 ou Maj + Ctrl+R
– Mac OS X : Effectuer la combinaison de touches Maj + ⌘+R

  • Effacer complètement le cache :

La combinaison de touches Ctrl + Maj + Suppr ouvre une boite de dialogue qui offre différentes options de purge, dont celle de vider le cache.

Google Chrome

  • Recharger une page et purger le cache :

– Windows : effectuer la combinaison de touches Maj + F5 ou Ctrl + F5
– Linux : effectuer la combinaison de touches Maj + Ctrl+R.
– Mac OS X : effectuer la combinaison de touches ⌘ + R

  • Effacer complètement le cache :

Cliquer sur le menu Chrome et ensuite sur le menu « Options » ou « Paramètres » ; cliquer ensuite sur l’onglet « Options avancées » et sur « Effacer les données de navigation… » ou utiliser la combinaison de touches Ctrl + Maj + Suppr.

Opera

  • Recharger une page et purger le cache :

F5 ou Ctrl + R

  • Effacer complètement le cache :

Cliquer sur le bouton « Opera » en haut à gauche, pointer la Souris sur « Réglages » puis cliquer sur « Préférences ». Dans l’onglet « Vie privée & Sécurité », descendez en bas de la page, cliquer sur « Conserver les donnée locales jusqu’à ce que je quitte mon navigateur », puis cliquez ensuite sur «Tous les cookies et données de site…» et « Tout enlever ».

Safari

  • Vider le cache :

Dans le menu déroulant sous le mot « Safari », cliquer sur « vider le cache »
Effectuer la combinaison de touches commande + option + E
