- How do I create Data trending chart?
SUMMARY:
Trending charts show data trend over time. This can increase the understanding of the real performance of the sample.
Our LSM offers a Data trending chart that monitors the quality check for a sample.
The chart shows the data points with min-max representation.
Please follow the below steps to create a data trending chart.
1. Create Data trending charts
2. Step 1: Creating parameter
3. Step 2. Creating Tests & Sample type
4. Step 3. Creating a Job
1. Create Data trending charts
Go to LSM -> HOME -> DATA TRENDING and click on ‘Add a new Chart’
A pop-up box will appear where will have to select one by one the Test, Parameter & Sample type.
There are certain prerequisites that you need to follow in order to create the data trending chart.
Note: LSM v3.2171 offers more options like choosing the requester.
*Below is just an example to show you a data trending chart.
The chart will appear as below.
- The tile of the chart represents the TEST name, Parameters & the Sample type.
- In the chart the Y-axis represents results values that are automatically created from the range defined for tests under result parameter (see step 2).
- The X-axis represents the date and time of the creation of the results.
- The chart can be chosen to represent values from either the last two weeks to last year.
- You can download the graph as a PNG image by clicking the download sign
.
- The
magnifies the graph to the full or biggest size.
- You can download the graph values in CSV file by clicking on this
icon . *NEW LSM v3.2171
- You can delete the graph using this
icon.
- By click on the
icon you can now have the choice to select which standard deviation bar you want to show in your graph and edit the configuration as per your requirements. You can also apply the setting to all of your graphs by checking the box in front of “Apply to all data trending charts”. Once you are finished you can save the settings. *NEW LSM v3.2171
- The red lines represent the minimum and maximum values.
- Min is the minimum value of a function in a graph with a vertex at the lowest point. (Red line on the bottom)
- Max is the maximum value of a function in a graph with a vertex at the highest point. (Red line on top)
- The colored lines (apart from min & max) represent the sigma values (6σ) that is the standard deviation. The more number of standard deviations between process average and acceptable process limits fits, the less likely that the process performs beyond the acceptable process limits, and it causes a defect. This is the reason why a 6σ (Six Sigma) process performs better than 1σ, 2σ, 3σ, 4σ, 5σ processes. The detailed explanation of the standard deviation in the chart is shown above (green).
To create a chart you need to follow certain steps, which are described below.
Step 1. Creating Parameter
Go to LSM -> ADMIN -> PREFERENCES -> PARAMETERS. Click on Add parameters.
(You can also click the link to see in details on how to add Parameters)
You can add the parameters as required.
Remember to put the “level” as Test and “data Type” as Numeric.
Step 2. Creating Tests & Sample type
Go to LSM ->ADMIN ->PREFERENCES ->TESTS. Click on Add Test.
(You can also click the link to see in details on how to add tests)
Add the details as required. Create the result parameter.
You can find the parameter that you created in step 1, define a range (This will also be the range of the Y-axis in data trending graph) and click on the + sign to insert the result parameter.
Save the test.
PREREQUISITES
You need to activate the range by going to LSM ->ADMIN ->PREFERENCES -> RANGES. Once you have created the ranges, please make sure you have selected the ranges (like in above image range 1) and the range boxes are not kept empty. Please see our KB on how to create ranges in LSM.
When you create a test and add the parameter in the “result parameter” , you NEED TO add the range in the parameter.
Step 3. Creating a Job
Go to LSM ->JOB ->ADD JOB.
Fill the required fields. Set the order to “Job”, select the samples received “Yes”. After that click on “Add Row”. Add the Sample, type and the tests and then click on “Save”.
After saving the job will appear in the job list.
PREREQUISITES
Please DO NOT mark the job as QA/QC (by going to Job option -> Follow up ) as we do for control charts.
After this, Click on the “Options” at the Job level and select ‘Open’. A pop-up will open with the job details. Under the Sample click on the test name.
When you click on the test name the below pop-up will appear. Click on “Save & Start” to start the test.
Once you “Save & Start” the job status will move from ‘Assigned’ to ‘Started’. You can fill the measurements that you want to fill in results tab example like below image.
Under the Result Parameter add the ‘Value’ obtained during the test. After finishing you either choose save or save and complete to finish the test.
Once the steps are complete you can create the chart as mentioned above.
PREREQUISITES
Please note that only the jobs in COMPLETED and FINISHED status will be seen in the data trending chart. You CANNOT view results of job that are in “STARTED” status.
